Thursday, October 8, 2015 Week 5 Picks

Welcome to the first installment of Sportmentary's weekly NFL picks. this week should be exciting and the top teams look to continue their dominance over mediocre or injury laden teams.

For the teams that are terrible, this week is likely to signal the end of their season.

Let's get to the picks!

Thursday Night Special – Indianapolis Colts at Houston TexansIndianapolis wins 24-15. Indianapolis is almost a lock to beat AFC South teams. Divisional games for them have been their bread and butter and a reason as to why they will win the AFC South this year and make it into the playoffs.

Both teams have their issues but the Texans are nearing collapse. They are the definition of pathetic. This game will be close in the first half but the Colts should break away from the Texans in the third quarter.

Actual score - Indianapolis 27 Houston 20.

Snoozer of the Week Chicago Bears at Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City wins 19-10. Let’s be honest. This is a battle of one terrible team with a terrible quarterback (QB), playing an underachieving team. The team with a putrid QB is Jay Cutler.

This is a game that will make watching paint dry seem exciting. Kansas City will win this but the game might just put you to sleep.

Upset in the Making of the Week St. Louis Rams at Green Bay Packers. St. Louis wins 15-12. This game doubles as our Game of the Week. This is the only game that I see a possible upset and it’s a long shot. Last week the Packers only managed 17 points against the 49ers. This week they face one of the best defenses in the NFL. Look for the Rams to make thins tough for Aaron Rodgers.

Wild Card of the Week Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals – Cincinnati wins 20-17. This is a tough one for me to call. The Bengals might be legitimate this year but we never know what we’re going to get with Andy Dalton.

Then there’s the Seahawks who’ve been underwhelming this year. They’re 2-2 but against sub-par teams and it’s not like they had an easy time with them. The Seahawks aren’t the menacing, scary team that we’ve seen the past 4 years and I think they will fall short on the road in week 5.

Lock of the Week New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys – New England wins 30-14. It’s obvious that the Cowboys miss Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. Sure they came close against the terrible Saints last week but I think if Tony Romo was under center, he would have found the open receivers that were there for the taking in the Red Zone.

The Patriots have started strong on both sides of the ball and I don’t see them losing their first game of the year this week. I think Brady will pick apart the Cowboys and will win this one easily!

That’s it for my picks for Week 5. Come back at the end of the week to see how Sportmentary did.

I will update this post with actual scores, when the games have ended. Correct picks will be highlighted in green and wrong picks will be highlighted in red.
