Rapid Fire Sports Review for Thursday October 30th

I'm trying something different today and we'll see if it becomes a regular part of the site. It's called Rapid Fire Sports Review. It's a quick recap on some of my favorite stories of the day. I will scour the net for sports stories and then briefly comment on the ones that I like.

The intent of Rapid Fire Sports Review is to comment on stories that I don't want to write an entire article about.

So let's kick this off.

GM Chevy Guy

If you watched the MVP presentation to Madison Bumgarner who pitched the San Francisco Giants to their third World Series title in five years, you witnessed one of the most awkward moments in World Series history.

GM rep Rikk Wilde was selected by GM to present the MVP with a Chevy truck. Wilde is a Royals fan and was hoping to present the award to one of his favorite players.

Wilde bumbled and fumbled the presentation, which also included presenting Madison Bumgarner keys to a Chevy truck. At the end of his presentation, Wilde who had forgotten his script and was forced to wing it referred to the truck as having "technology and stuff".

I felt for the guy. Most of us have been scared giving presentations but doing it in front of millions of people and then struggling with that presentation has to be tough.

Before I joined Toastmasters, I couldn't speak in public. I know how hard it is to do and give the guy credit for doing it in front of a national audience.

It was definitely a memorable moment. It was also an uncomfortable moment as it was unfolding and then when they panned on the poor guy who was sweating profusely was amusing and made me feel for sorry him all at the same time. I thought the guy was going to have a heart attack.

What's the Biggest Game for Lebron?

Lebron James said that the opening game for the Cleveland Cavaliers and his return to Cleveland will be one of his biggest. So winning two championships and winning the games that it took to get them were as big as his Cleveland return?

I don't think so and if I were a Cavs fan I would be hoping his biggest game will be a championship for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Don't get me wrong. This is a big game. It's an exciting moment but one of the biggest?

Is Gary Player Senile

Autographed Gary Player Picture - 8x10Golfing great Gary Player claims that all he needs is one hour and he could fix the golf swing of Tiger Woods. The 78 year old is a nine time major winner, so he does have some credibility but I think it's a stretch that he can fix Tiger in one hour.

It will take more than an hour to fix Tiger. It might never happen. Tiger hasn't shown any signs that he is capable of winning another major and the fact that Tiger has suffered from back injuries that have kept him out of large parts of a number of golf seasons would definitely damper Player's ability to fix Tiger's swing.

I sure hope that Player hasn't become senile because his opinion is quite lofty.

That's it for my favorite stories for today.
