2014 NFL Picks - Week #2

Drew Brees Autographed Photo - 8x10 Psa dna Id #77775The first week of the NFL season was an exciting one. I enjoyed watching my Minnesota Vikings beat up on the St. Louis Rams. I enjoyed Peyton defeating Andrew and most importantly I enjoyed the Seahawks mauling the Packers.

I'm sure that week 2 will be just as exciting, maybe even more than week #1. The second week of football has already been explosive with the Ray Rice saga. As this story develops look for even more drama regarding the NFL front office.

Now let's get to the picks.

Thursday Night Special - Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) at Baltimore Ravens (0-1)
So the Ravens got off to a bad start and the Steelers spotted a terrible team tons of points just to win by a slim margin.

We'll see if Flacco can rebound from his loss last week and prove that he's worthy of his mega salary.

I don't have much confidence in these teams right now but I'm taking the home team in this one.

Baltimore wins 27-21.

Snoozer of the Week - Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) at Washington Football Team (0-1)
This will be a battle of two terrible teams. OK. It won't really be a battle. The team who wins will do so by not wanting the victory less than the other team.

All jokes aside, this game will be a snoozefest.

Washington wins 10-7.

Upset in the Making of the Week - New England Patriots (0-1) at Minnesota Vikings (1-0)
There doesn't seem to be much logic in this pick other than that the Patriots were stunned by the Dolphins last week.

The Vikings have more weapons on offense this year which is headlined by play maker Cordarrelle Patterson.

Minnesota wins 24-16.

Wild Card of the Week - Atlanta Falcons (1-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-0)
Both teams earned victories in week #1. Atlanta did it in shootout mode with an OT winner over Drew Brees and the saints. Falcons QB Matt Ryan was impressive and I believe that he's the wild card in this game.

If Matt has another impressive game the Falcons will have a chance of being 0-2 at week's end.

Andy Dalton also had a good game and the Cincinnati Bengals showed why they have a good shot at winning the NFC North this season.

Home field advantage will be the difference maker in this one.

Cincinnati wins 27-24.

Lock of the Week - New Orleans Saints (0-1) at Cleveland Browns (1-0)
One of the only questions I have is will Johnny take the field on Sunday? If the coaching staff will allow it, there should be an opportunity for him to take the field as the Saints will have wrapped this game up by the mid-point of the third quarter.

The Saints were in a shootout against the Falcons last week and while they lost a heart breaker in OT, they will rebound in week #2.

New Orleans wins 45-17.

Monday Night Football - Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at Indianapolis Colts (0-1)
Andrew Luck lives for the big stage and Monday Night Football is that big stage. Luck came very close to completing a comeback against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night.

Luck faces a formidable opponent in the Eagles but unlike the Jaguars who spotted the Eagles 17 points, the Eagles will be unable to mount a comeback should they fall behind by double digits.

Indianapolis wins 28-17.

That's a wrap for these weeks picks.

Season totals:
W-4  L-2
