NFL Picks for Week 17 - 2013 Final Edition

Nick Foles Autographed 8x10 Photo - 7 TDs 11/3/13We've arrived at the end of the 2013 regular season. It has been a great year with some exciting games and moments. It has been fun making my picks every season and while we head to what should be a great post-season, I'm a little sad that this is the last chance I get to make my picks for the 2013 season.

In week 17 I went 3-2 bringing my total for the year to 47 correct and 30 incorrect.

Here we go.

Purple Pride Special - Detroit Lions (7-8) at Minnesota Vikings 4-10-1
The Detroit Lions will be looking to get a victory in a stadium that has traditionally given them a hard time. Mall of America Field (Formerly the Metrodome) has been a tough place for the Kitty Cats to earn a victory.

It would seem that the Lions have an edge coming into this game. Adrian Peterson is out and the Vikings suck. But this is Mall of America Field and it will be the last game played in the stadium. It's time for one more loss for the Kitties in the Dome.

The good news coming out of this game is that it will be the last game at Mall of America Field. The stadium will be imploded soon and a terrible stadium will be a thing of history.

Minnesota wins 35-17.

Upset in the Making of the Week - Jacksonville Jaguars (4-11) at Indianapolis Colts (10-5)
I haven't done well with the upset pick and this week there aren't too many choices. My gut is telling me that Indy shuts down some of their starters (including Luck) in week 17.

Jacksonville wins 20-14.

Denver Broncos (12-3) at Oakland Raiders (4-11)
Believe it or not the Broncos have something to play for. They're playing for home field advantage. Oakland is a terrible team. Look for Peyton Manning to increase his TD record. This game won't be close and could be over in the first quarter.

Denver wins 48-14.

Wild Card of the Week - Philadelphia Eagles (9-6) at Dallas Cowboys (8-7)
This is a winner take all affair. The winner wins the NFC East and a playoff berth. The loser will watch the playoffs from their couches.

Tony Romo had season ending back surgery and the cowboys have to go with Kyle Orton. Kyle might be able to get the job done but losing Romo in the most important game is a setback for the Cowboys. Then again it might be a blessing in disguise. Romo seems to falter during big games in December.

Look for Nick Foles to be the difference maker in this one.

The Eagles will win this game and stick another dagger into the hearts of Cowboys fans. Eagles win 27-17.

With no Thursday and Monday night games I only picked 4 games this week. We'll see how I do this week.
That's a wrap for 2013.  Happy New Year and good luck to your team.
