I've decided to add a new pick to the weekly picks segment. Stating this week I will be adding the Purple Pride Special. As you probably have guessed I will be picking the outcome of the Minnesota Vikings game.
After going 6-1 in week 13 my totals for the year are 37 correct and 22 incorrect.
Thursday Night Special - Houston (2-10) at Jacksonville (3-9)
This game isn't so special and doubles as this week's Snoozer of the Week. The NFL Network has to be upset that they have this matchup between two of the worst teams in the NFL. These teams have a combined record of 5-19.
On the surface you would think that I would take the Jaguars at home but they are 0-5 at home. Doughnut or no doughnut at home I'm taking the Jaguars to win their first game at home.
Jacksonville wins 14-10.
Purple Pride Special - Minnesota Vikings (3-8-1) at Baltimore Ravens (6-6)
Minnesota hasn't won a game on the road all year and the Ravens are not only 5-1 at home but they are in the thick of the playoff hunt. They even have their sights set at trying to win the division.
I don't see the Vikings beating the Ravens on the road.
Baltimore and Joe Flacco win 31-20.
Upset in the Making of the Week - Carolina Panthers (9-3) at New Orleans (9-3)
New Orleans is coming off a drubbing at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. The Seattle defense made Drew Brees look like an average quarterback.
I see Drew Brees laying an egg again and this time it will be at home in the dome but this game will not be easy for the Saints. I think that Cam Newton will continue to impress the NFL by having another good game.
I think that we saw that the Saints defense is vulnerable and I think that Cam Newton and the Panthers offense will feast on the Saints defense.
The Carolina Panthers will bring the Aints out of Saints by winning 34-17.
Wild Card of the Week - Oakland Raiders (4-8) at New York Jets (5-7)
This is a tough game to pick. The Raiders are 1-5 on the road while the hapless Jets are 3-3 at home. The wild card here is Geno Smith.
Last year it was easy to pick against the Jets with Mark Sanchez at the helm. This year it's as easy picking against the Jets with MS2 (Mark Sanchez 2) under center.
I'll take my chances with picking Oakland as long as Geno is in the game.
Oakland wins 17-6.
Lock of the Week - Cleveland Browns (4-8) at New England Patriots (9-3)
There's not much to say here. The Brown suck while the Patriots are one the better AFC teams. The Patriots will overwhelm the Browns.
Tom Brady will be too much for the Browns defense to handle.
New England wins 35-9.
Monday Night Football - Dallas Cowboys (7-5) at Chicago Bears (6-6)
Dallas takes their 2-4 road record to Chicago where the Bears will try to rebound from a humiliating and unthinkable loss to the Vikings.
The Bears are 4-2 at the friendly confines of Soldiers Field. They will make that 5-2 on Sunday.
Chicago wins 17-14.
I hope that you have fun watching week 14's games. Good luck to your team!
