2013 NFL Picks - Week #13

Signed Tony Romo Photo - RARE 11X14 JSAI actually did well in week #12. I got four out of my six picks correct and that includes the upset pick Yes, the upset in the making pick where I took a leap of faith and chose my boldest pick of the year. I picked Tampa Bay to beat the Detroit Kitty Cats in Detroit.

I will take my four correct picks. It was a tough week with some upsets. This week should be just as hard to pick as the past three have been. This is crunch time in the NFL and I want to finish the year strong picking by like a champ.

This week Sportmentary will pick all three of the Thursday games. That's three upset specials.

Last week I was 4-2 in my picking bringing my year to date total to 31 Correct and 21 Incorrect.

Thursday Night/Thanksgiving Special #1 - Green Bay Packers (5-5-1) at Detroit Lions (6-5)

Will he play or will he sit. That's the question surrounding the Green Bay Packers and their decision to sit or play Aaron Rodgers. I think he'll play but I don't think that will alter the outcome of the game.

Aaron is still hurt and if the Lions get to him, it could spell big trouble for the King of Green Bay. I think that Aaron should double check his decision and sit this week out.

Detroit has lost three in a row and two to bad teams. I don't see them losing at home on Turkey Day. They will not lose two in a row at home. Mathew Stafford will have a good game and will rebound from his four interception performance against the Bucs.

Detroit wins 24-13.

Thursday Night/Thanksgiving Special #2 - Oakland Raiders (4-7) at Dallas Cowboys (6-5)

This game also doubles as our Lock of the Week pick.

Tony Romo is coming off a big win where he led his Dallas Cowboys to a game winning field goal. Romo must be licking his chops. He is facing a terrible team on Thursday at home. Oakland is a bad football team. They are the West Coast version of the Detroit Lions (of past).

Tony will have a big game and will celebrate after beating the stuffing out of the Raiders.

Dallas wins 35-10.

Thursday Night/Thanksgiving Special #3 - Pittsburgh (5-6) at Baltimore (5-6)

This is a great game for Thanksgiving's night game. It's a coup for NBC. This is a great rivalry and both teams are on the upswing.

Baltimore has won two of their last three (both at home). Baltimore is red hot at home.

Pittsburgh has won three in a row (two of those games were at home). Pittsburgh has struggled on the road and that trend will continue in Baltimore. Even Big Ben Rothlisberger will not be able to save the day for the Steelers.

Baltimore wins a close one 19-17.

Snoozer of the Week - New England Patriots (8-3) at Houston Texans (2-9)

Let's be honest. The Texans don't have a chance of winning this game. That was evident not only how poorly they've played the past 9 weeks but their loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars proved that the Texans are the worst team in the NFL.

This will be a boring game. Houston won't be in this game and we'll all go to sleep as the Patriots run away with the game.

New England wins 28-0.

Upset in the Making of the Week - Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-8) at Carolina (8-3)

This is another bold pick. I don't take the same team in the upset pick two weeks in a row but I see a glimmer of hope for the Bucs. Tampa Bay has won three games is a row. Their biggest victory was against the Lions in week 12.

Carolina has won seven straight games and is big favorite against the Bucs. With everything going Cam Newton's way, I see the Panthers hitting a road block. They will be seeing some black and blue after they are defeated by the Bucs.

Tampa Bay wins 14-6.

Wild Card of the Week - Denver Broncos (9-2) at Kansas City Chiefs (9-2)

This is going to be a wild game. Both teams are coming off devastating losses. Peyton Manning will try to make up for a pathetic performance in New England, while the Chiefs will try to rebound from two straight losses, one of them at the hands of Peyton Manning.

The Chiefs haven't played well against a decent QB but they are at home. This game will be close until the fourth quarter, when Peyton will come to life and lead the Broncos to victory.

Denver wins 30-21.

Monday Night Football - New Orleans Saints (9-2) at the Seattle Seahawks (9-2)
This could have been the Wild Card of the week as well. This will be a great game. It will be a tough battle and will come down to defense.

Drew Brees will be good but he won't light it up. The better defense will win this game.

Seattle wins 20-17.

Those are my picks. Take them for what they're worth. If they help you in your pickem that's great. If they hurt you in your pickem that's your fault for believing in my prognostication skills.
