I sure hope that next week 8's Monday Night game is more exciting. In fact I hope all the games have a little more pep than week 7's games.
Now for the picks.
Thursday Night Special - Carolina Panthers (3-3) at Tampa Bay (0-6)
This could be one of those sleeper games where the obvious pick isn't so obvious and doesn't pan out. That may be true but we're talking about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don't see Cam Newton losing this one.
Carolina wins 28-10.
Snoozer of the Week - New York Giants (1-6) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)
This is another matchup between terrible teams. The only thing we can hope for is that this game is a little more exciting than the boredomfest that the Giants and the Vikings played on Monday night.
Don't count on this game keeping you up long enough to see the game through to the end. The Giants are a pathetic club and hopefully reality will set in that they were just slightly better than the pathetic Vikings.
The Giants should also realize that Eli Manning stunk up the field against the Vikings. Lucky for him Josh Freeman was so bad that all eyes were on him and not Eli.
Philadelphia wins 12-6.
Upset in the Making of the Week - No game picked this week.
Last week I felt compelled to pick an upset pick even though I didn't think the upset I was picking was realistic. I picked the Jaguars as my upset. I will not fall into that trap this week.
Wild Card of the Week - Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) at Oakland Raiders (2-4)
This is a tough game to pick. Both teams are 2-4 and both teams have had their struggles this season.
The Steelers are coming off two big wins in a row. It's hard to believe that they lost to the Vikings in London. I think that Big Ben and the Steelers will ride their momentum and win on the road in Oakland.
Pittsburgh wins 21-17.
Lock of the Week - San Francisco 49ers (5-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-6)
I took a week off last week from picking the Jaguars opponent as the lock of the week. This week I'm back at picking the Jaguars opponent, the San Francisco Giants.
I think that Henne will continue to self-destruct and the Giants will make him pay for his brutal playing. Kapernick will light up the Jaguars. This game will not be close.
San Francisco wins 45-9.
Monday Night Football - Seattle Seahawks (6-1) at St. Louis Rams (3-4)
At least week 8's game will feature one good team. This will be another bad game but the Seahawks will play like the top dog that they are.
St. Louis wasn't good with Sam Bradford in the lineup. With him out of the lineup they will be even worse.
Seattle wins 34-13.
I could have picked the Packers as my lock of the wee against the hapless Vikings but I'm still seething over the Vikings terrible performance against the Giants and I don't want to think about how badly the Packers are going to beat them.
Enjoy week 8 and good luck to your team.
