I got half my picks right last week. My upset pick didn't pan out as New Orleans showed us that they are a powerhouse and that Jay Cutler is an inconsistent QB.
It's getting tougher making these picks. Except for a few great teams and a few terrible teams, you never really know how a team is going to play each week.
Yes, I'm making excuses for my poor picking but it's another week and I have another chance at redeeming myself.
Thursday Night Special - New York Giants (0-5) at Chicago Bears (3-2)
This is a tough game to pick. Both teams are on losing streaks and are looking to rebound. Both teams have looked terrible during their losses but the Giants take the cake when it comes to mediocrity.
Jay Cutler seems to have two bad games and one good one. So he's due to have a decent game on Thursday. Eli Manning will continue to be brutal and throw interceptions.
Since this is a road game for the Giants and I don't expect the Bears to lose two games in a row at home, especially when playing an inept team in the Giants, I think the Bears will take this one.
Chicago wins 27-10.
Snoozer of the Week - St. Louis Rams (2-3) at Houston Texans (2-3)
There's not much to say about this game other than these are two bad teams that are boring. Expect this to be a terrible game. Schaub won't be brutal but he won't be good either.
Houston wins this 17-13.
Upset in the Making of the Week - New Orleans (5-0) at New England (4-1)
Everything says that New Orleans will demolish the Patriots. Does anyone really think that the Patriots defense can stop Drew Brees? Can Tom Brady have a decent game?
This is the second week that I'm going against logic and picking the home team. It's very hard to beat the Patriots at home, no matter how bad their offense is. Tom finds a way to win home games. This is the Saints second straight game on the road.
The Saints luck and unbeaten streak comes to an end in this one.
New England wins 24-21.
Wild Card of the Week - Green Bay Packers (2-2) at Baltimore Ravens (3-2)
Some of you might think that since this is a home game, the Ravens should win this game and you might be right. The Ravens have won both their home games.
Some of you will say that the Packers are 0-2 on the road and should lose to the Ravens and you might be right.
This is a harder game than you might think and you almost have to throw statistics and logic out of the window.
The Packers are a good team, even without Clay Mathews. Don't forget that Flacco isn't having a good year.
Green Bay wins 24-17.
Lock of the Week - Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) at Denver Broncos (5-0)
Denver wins 58-6
Monday Night Football - Indianapolis Colts (4-1) at San Diego Chargers (2-3)
Indianapolis is on fire and the Chargers need some charging. Rivers is done in San Diego and this game will make that clear.
Indianapolis wins 38-13.
Season Picks Score: 12 Correct and 6 Incorrect.
