Coyotes Needed A Stanchion To Have A Chance Tonight - Wild Win 4-3

Article written by Sportmentary - Editor in Chief Sportmentary Online Sports Talk
The Minnesota Wild took a 4-3 lead into the third period of tonight's game against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Wild were in total control of this affair until the 15:21 mark of the third period. That's when a Stanchion came into play and almost gave the Coyotes a chance at a comeback.

Stanchion you say? Yes the Coyotes Keith Yandle shot the puck into the Wild's end. The puck went passed the net and hit a stanchion. The puck took a ridiculous bounce and bounced right into the net. Wild Goalie Niklas didn't have a chance to react to that bouncy puck.

Backstrom had been playing a great game. That freaky play gave the Coyotes life. Just when the State of Hockey thought the game was over, Shane Doan scored a goal to narrow the score to 4-3. I could hear the State of Hockey saying to themselves, uh oh.

The Coyotes poured it on with the empty net and came up just short. That was the right finish. If a Stanchion would have played a part in a Coyote victory I would have been ticked off. Now I can gloat that there wasn't a howl at the end of this one.

I dislike the Coyotes. So the Wild winning doesn't only make me ecstatic because the Coyotes lost but it's a W for the Wild. The Wild played a good road game and outplayed the Coyotes most of the night.

In the end the Coyotes needed some luck and a bizarre bounce to help them out. The Coyotes played a terrible home game. They need to show some life. They need to show their fans that the GOALden Ticket really does work.

At looking at the Coyotes home record since the Goalden Ticket promotion was announced, the Coyotes have given up tons of goals. Since the GOALden Ticket promo is based on the number of goals given up by the Coyotes at Arena, it looks like Coyotes fans or people attempting to be hockey fans can flush that ticket right down the drain.

Before I get of course with a tirade of the Coyotes, a shout out needs to go out to Minnesota Wild player Dany Heatly. Heatly had two big goals and played a great game. It's good to see Dany playing at a high level and having success.

Right now the Wild are starting to gel. They have more than one line doing the scoring. The Wild are hot right now and that makes the State of Hockey really happy.
