OK, I’m going to go out on a limb here. After reading a story about a witness who claims that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo admitted being solely responsible for this rouse last fall, before Manti purportedly knew about the hoax, I’m ready to submit my judgment...That will come a little bit later.

At least one other person has reportedly come forward to say they were duped by this guy as well. It seems as if Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is a good con artist.

MANTI TEO NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH 8X10 HIGH GLOSSY SPORTS ACTION PHOTOWhile Manti is incredibly naive and guilty of perpetuating this rouse after he found out about it, I find that he had no involvement in the planning or complicity of the hoax. I know that sounds strange but that he can be innocent but this whole story is weird.

I know many people are wondering how a guy could date a fictitious person for three years without meeting her and believe she existed. How could that happen? I'm not sure but that doesn't mean he was involved in the hoax.

I think all the people who've defended him and said that he's a good guy, an innocent guy might be right. I think that the only thing Te'o is guilty of is being a gullible and naive guy. I think he's a simpleton. That's not a crime.

It’s easy for us to judge him for continuing telling the Media about his fictitious girlfriend after he found out she didn't exist but how would you reacted?

I can only imagine how embarrassed and humiliated I would be. I’m not sure if I would have come clean so quickly. I can imagine what he thought when he found out he had been dating nothing. He knew people would think he was a freak of nature. We all did. We all thought it could be impossible to date thin air for three years.

Manti is yet to speak to the media. He needs to do it soon. He needs to come clean with everything, not matter how embarrassing it feels or how stupid he looks. The jokes are already being written. He needs to limit the number of punch lines his name will be a part of.

I can see it now. This year's big catch phrase won't include the word "Tebowed". It will include the word "Te'od

Update 12/19/2013 12:10 AM - ESPN reported that Te'o gave Jeremy Schaap an off-camera interview on Friday. Te'o explained some of the discrepancies in the story as well as providing some explanation for events that some people questioned. Jeremy Schaap says that Manti was very believable. Manti denied being involved in the hoax. Details can be found at ESPN.com.
