2012-2013 NHL Season Eve

Article written by Sportmentary - Editor in Chief Sportmentary Online Sports Talk
Good evening folks. Is your heart pounding like mine? Can you feel the excitement in the air? Are you sitting on the edge of you seats? Are you waiting for the first puck to drop on this 2012-2013 lockout enhanced and delayed season?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above you are not alone. You don't have to feel like you're the only chumbolone out there. I'm right here to hold your figurative and digital hand. I answered yes to all those questions. Yes, I'm eager for the season to start. I have been for months now.

The time has come my friends. As we are about embark on a shortened season on this eve of the 2012-2013 season we can have a big smile on our faces. We can go to bed with the amazing feeling that when we wake up tomorrow, hockey day will have arrived.

Yes, I'm mad and angry at the NHL and NHLPA for delaying the start of the season for the game I love. That doesn't mean I'm going to boycott the league. Does a cocaine addict and other junkies boycott their pushers? The answer is no. So I'm not going to boycott the league even though they acted like infants during the lockout.

Their behavior was atrocious. Their disregard for me and other fans was deplorable. That being said, I love my NHL hockey. I crave it. I yearn for it. I want it. I want it. I want it. The NHL knows that their most loyal fans like me and possibly you crave it and like any good enabler, they are going to finally give it to us.

The NHL knows that there are many fans that aren't like me. They have some work to do to make amends to the masses. They will need to lure the disgruntled fan back to the NHL. The NHL said it will make it up to the fans.

I will wait with my hands held out for nay handouts that are provided to me. Handouts will be icing to my cake. I will already be watching games and getting my fix regardless of any incentives that they might provide to the fan. So providing me with a few more incentives will be welcomed with open arms.

The start of the hockey season is extra special to me. I live in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Saturday is the annual Hockey Day Minnesota. It's a day packed with hockey. From high school hockey televised live to the Minnesota Gophers vs. University of North Dakota game to the main event of the Minnesota Wild/Colorado Avalanche game this will be an awesome day.

As the day comes to an end the season will start for the Minnesota Wild and the state of hockey will be going nuts for the sport that they love. 500 or so miles North West of Minneapolis the Winnipeg Jets will be hosting the Ottawa Senators. This will not only be the opener for the Winnipeg Jets but will also be the opening of their second season.

What makes this shortened 48 game season even more exciting is that every game will count. In a shortened season like this there's no room for going on losing streaks. There will drama, excitement and entertainment. I can't wait. Can you?
