The Worst QB in the NFL

Article written by Sportmentary - Editor in Chief Sportmentary.com
This article started out as a possible ranking list of the worst quarterback (QB) in the NFL. What the article has become is a piece on one quarterback who Sportmentary thinks is the hands down winner of this award for losers.

I looked at how the NFL QBs were rated, what their win/loss record was, how many fumbles, interceptions and touchdowns QBs accumulated. I also looked at the many games and highlights that I've watched this season. Some games stood out for their futility. One QB did as well.

Mark Sanchez is the worst QB in the NFL. Sanchez has been terrible and made terrible mistakes. One of the worst plays was the infamous butt fumble. That play defines Sanchez's season. What a way to have your season defined.

For me the Tennessee Titans game was the real defining moment. After having a terrible game and being pulled for a series at one point, Sanchez had two opportunities to win the game late in the fourth quarter. Sanchez threw a terrible interception on one of those occasions and fumbled the ball on another.

That was one of the worst games I've ever seen but more importantly that was one of the most pathetic displays at attempting to be an NFL quarterback that I've ever seen. Mark Sanchez's play has been pathetic. It's been embarrassing and it hasn't been at level of what a competent and capable NFL should be at.

Mark Sanchez hasn't only had one bad game but most of his games this season have been awful. He’s been a joke. He's helped to make the New York Jets a laughing stock. I just can't think of a worse quarterback this 2012 season.

Here are some telling stats of Mark Sanchez (stats are through week #16):
  1. His record is 6-8.
  2. He's thrown for only 13 touchdowns.
  3. He's thrown for 17 interceptions.
  4. He's fumbled the ball 12 times.
  5. He has a passer rating of 67.9.
  6. He has a QBR of 25.0.
  7. He's only completed 54.8% of his passes.
