Dumb and Dumber to Rejoin NHL Negotiations
Update: NHLPA says NHL rejects their latest offer. Ha ha ha. Told you this wouldn't end well.
Check out our latest NHL article.
I've written two articles this week about my pessimism regarding the current negotiations between NHL players and a handful of NHL owners. I think I will be proven right. It was announced today that Dumb and Dumber otherwise known as Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr respectively will be rejoining the negotiations. They had taken a backseat in the negotiations this week and talks were actually going well.
Dumb and Dumber are misfits. They haven't been able to make progress during this lockout. They have been trading barbs and insults with each other. They don't seem to be able to work well together. The players and owners who were negotiating and who aren't lawyers and professional negotiators were able to work well together and make progress.
So what do the players and owners do when they make progress? They bring back Gary "Who wants an NHL Season Anyways?" Bettman and Donald "Duck" Fehr. This is hilarious. I knew things would take a turn for the worst. I was just waiting for when it would happen. This is so pathetic and funny that I can't stop laughing.
This is like a comedy of errors. Just when things are going well and progress is being made the two sides take 100 steps backwards and have to start from square one. The players have asked the NHL to bring back federal mediators. You see, we are heading backwards. It was a complete disaster when the mediators were brought in the last time.
Instead of trying to hammer out a deal both sides are acting like clowns. I have to apologize to clowns for insulting them. They shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as these buffoons. I hate being proven right when it comes to the NHL lockout and my opinion that this season will be lost but the facts stand for themselves.
I don't think that there is any real desire to have a season. The two sides seem so pinned down in their position that when they make progress they have to sabotage themselves. In the past I would have been angry. That's because I would have bought into the belief that there was optimism on both sides and that a deal was near. I didn't buy into that belief this time around. I know who I'm dealing with.
I mentioned it yesterday's piece that I thought things were about to unravel. Today I'm starting to see the first signs of that. With Dumb and Dumber set to rejoin the negotiations things are about to head south in a hurry.
