Fool of the Day - Mike Shanahan

Today's Fool of the Day is Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan for the comments he made below:
"When you lose a game like that, now you’re playing to see who obviously is going to be on your football team for years to come,” Shanahan said in his postgame news conference Sunday. “Now, we have a chance to evaluate players and see where we’re at. Obviously, we’re not out of it statistically. Now we find out what kind of character we have and how guys keep on fighting throughout the rest of the season. ” Source SI.com.

It sure looks like the coach has given up on the season. If he hasn't, how could he make those comments? How do you think his players are taking those comments? If I were to venture a guess, I would say that they are probably upset with their coach.

I've never heard such a ridiculous statement half way through a season by a head coach? Was Mike just trying to rally hos troops? I doubt that's the way to motivate players. I don't think Mike was thinking. I think it was a moment of poor judgement.

I think if this clown was honest with everyone, he wishes he could take the comment back. I'm sure he wishes he could take a mulligan and start over. Mike, you can't do that. You acted like a fool. Just admit it.
