Peyton Manning: As Great a Person as He is a Player

If you've had a chance to see Peyton Manning's press conference and his goodbye to Indianapolis Colts fans, you witnessed a player who is as great a man as he is a player. Today, Jim Irsay announced what Sportmentary knew was coming for a long time; he released Peyton from the Colts.

The decision was a financial one and I can't blame Irsay for the decision. I just wish he would have shown more class in the past couple of months. I wish he would have acted like Peyton Manning. Manning addressed his fans and it was emotional. It was sincere and heartfelt. I wonder how many Colts fans had tears in their eyes watching him say goodbye in such an emotional manner?

You could see that Peyton loved being a Colt and playing for his fans. He was a kid in a candy store. Watching him play, you could see that he appreciated it and respected what he had. Today we all saw a Peyton Manning, who had a connection to the city of Indianapolis, the fans of Indiana, his teammates and to team ownership and management.

Great players don't come along too often but when they do, we all take not. We all love watching great players showcasing their craft. What Sportmentary loved today, was watching a great man saying goodbye the right way. It's amazing to see a player who is a great in life moments like this as he is on the field.

Peyton Manning's contribution to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana has been solidified by his great play through the years. Now Colts fans will remember Manning as a great guy. I hope other NFL players took notes today. They could learn a lesson form a great player on how to say goodbye to the city that they're leaving.

Sportmentary loves the way Peyton conducted himself today and in the past. He's a true NFL legend. He's a great man who also is a great player. I look forward to watching Peyton end his career with another team. I'm a Peyton Manning fan and I hope we can see more of Manning's greatness in years to come.

Bravo Peyton. Bravo. You've shown fans that there is a classy way to act. You've shown fans that their are good guys in the game. You've shown the NFL community that there is a right way to conduct yourself. You've shown the NFL community that you can be both a great player and a great person. Bravo!
