Pat Summit Has a New Fight

Pat Summitt has a new fight on her hands
ESPN is reporting that Tennessee basketball coach Pat Summitt has been diagnosed with early onset dementia.  She plans to continue coaching.

Summitt is the winningest coach in NCAA basketball history.

Summitt has won championships, gold medals, etc, etc but this will be her toughest fight.  It’s sad.  Summitt embodies an attitude of being able to overcome any obstacle.  She represents what winning is all about.

Summitt is also a role model for women looking to compete and be successful at sports.  It is be sad that one day, due to this illness she will stop coaching and teaching other women.

I’m not a big fan of women’s basketball but I’m a huge fan of Pat Summitt.  Her teams are exciting to watch and you know they will give their best effort on the court.  That’s exciting.

Summitt can can be expected to put forth her best effort in battling this terrible disease.  I hope that we will see many more years of her on the sidelines.  I’m sure that it’s terrifying to her that in the future, she will lose control of her mental faculties.

Sportmentary believes that this is a sad day for sports.  Seldom do we see an athlete or coach that we can hold in high regard.  Summitt is one of these people.
We only hope that when it is her time to step down, another coach will be able to step up to the plate and continue in her footsteps.
